Shoniqua Horton’s Extended Interview with 716 Live

JRTA: When did you decide you wanted to be a model?

Shoniqua Horton: I decided I wanted to be a model at the age of 13 if I’m not mistaken.

JRTA:  What was your first modeling gig?

Shoniqua Horton: My first modeling gig was a fashion show in Buffalo, NY.

JRTA: How did it go? What were your concerns before walking the runway?

Shoniqua Horton: During every fashion show or gig I’m nervous at first but as time goes on and I hit the stage it all goes away. My number one concern was falling. I didn’t fall the fashion show was great, plus I walked for every designer in the show.

JRTA:  Awesome! What are some tips you have for aspiring models trying to break into the industry?

Shoniqua Horton: Some tips I have for aspiring models is that criticism from people will occur no matter if you’re doing good or bad it’s up to you to keep your head up and move forward to what you want in life. I would tell them if modeling is their craft then don’t give up nothing is easy and it’ll be hard but worth it at the end.

JRTA: Cool. Determination is key! What are your plans for the next few years?

Shoniqua Horton: My plans for the next few years is to finish my few semesters left for college. Get my book published that I’m now in the middle of writing, Start my boutique up , I’m a Brand Ambassador for Hennessy, continue to push forward with my modeling and acting career. I’m very Ambitious and dedicated I’m not stopping. In Gods will.

JRTA: Smart women! What will your book be about?

Shoniqua Horton: My book is about my life. “If I was to write my life in a Book would you understand me? Back in 2011/2012 I was homeless, Fighting all the time ect. Father in and out of jail my whole life who is now facing 17 years behind bars. I prayed every night, I motivate MYSELF. I did a whole 360, got it together and now moving on with my life.

JRTA: That goes to show that it doesn’t matter where you came from. Where you’re going is what is important? What is it like being a mother?

Shoniqua Horton: You’re right I absolutely love being a mother at first I didn’t know how I would be able to do it now I wouldn’t know what to do without my Son. He is amazing and my heart. It’s one of the best feelings in the world. This also goes to show you to NEVER doubt yourself. whatever you put your mind to you can do. For Edward 3Rd I hold it down.

JRTA: Thanks for the dope interview!

Shoniqua Horton: No problem thank you.
