Karl Shakur chats with Jasmine

Jasmine Reed The Author: Where is your favorite place to eat?

Karl Shakur: My favorite place to eat is this diner chain called Smash Burger. I have various fond memories of sharing a juicy sandwich with my little sister there on hot Sunday afternoons.

Jasmine Reed The Author: Why is traveling important?

Karl Shakur: Traveling helps me escape the mundane. I’m currently studying architecture at a University and after a hard week of work, I get to look forward to spending time outdoors with friends. Anywhere outside my comfort zone helps to clear my mind and have me focused and prepared for the next task at hand.

Jasmine Reed The Author: What got you interested in architecture?

Karl Shakur: My late grandfather was an architect and subtly pointed me in the right creative direction to peak my interest. I don’t know if I’d have chosen the same path if not for him.

Jasmine Reed The Author: Any advice for new entrepreneurs?

Karl Shakur: Sometimes, you just have to take a risk. Without getting yourself out there and baring a little skin, you’ll never know how much there is to gain.

Jasmine Reed The Author: What are your plans for the future?

Karl Shakur: I graduate college in May. I’ll be staying back in Kansas after that to finish up a couple of projects, but I intend to travel the world a little before moving on to the next stage of life.
